Carvajal to leave Real Madrid after 23 years: End of an era
Dani Carvajal will depart Real Madrid at the end of the season, bringing down the curtain on a legendary 23-year association with the club.
The 34-year-old right-back, who made 450 appearances and won 27 trophies, is out of contract in June. A product of Madrid’s academy, he debuted for the first team in 2013 after a season at Bayer Leverkusen.
Carvajal is one of only five players to have won the Champions League six times, starting every final. He also claimed four La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey, and multiple European and world crowns.
Injuries have plagued his final seasons, including a cruciate ligament tear in October 2024 and another serious knee injury a year later.
The arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer limited him to just 892 La Liga minutes this term.
“Dani Carvajal is a legend and a symbol of Real Madrid,” said president Florentino Pérez.
Madrid will honour the defender during their final league match against Athletic Club on 23 May at the Santiago Bernabéu.
