Burkina Faso Forces thwart coordinated terrorist attacks in Eastern Regions

The coordinated terrorist attacks launched against several positions of the fighting forces at Gayéri, Solhan, and Sebba once again illustrate the determination of the enemies of Burkina Faso to sow terror, chaos, and division. Behind these offensives lies a strategy aimed at undermining civilian morale, inflicting a heavy human toll, and compromising the territorial reconquest efforts championed by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Faced with this criminal attempt, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) mounted a swift, coordinated, and decisive response.

Thanks to the effectiveness of ground and air operations, hundreds of assailants were neutralized and a substantial arsenal of war materiel recovered demonstrating that the terrorists’ plans are being thwarted by the vigilance and professionalism of the engaged forces.

These events serve as a reminder that the perpetrators of such violence are above all seeking to instill a climate of fear in order to fuel narratives that serve their interests.

However, their strategy fails when national resilience, the discipline of the fighting forces, and citizen mobilization prevail over fear.

The sacrifice of soldiers who fell on the field of honor calls for a further strengthening of national unity.

More than ever, collaboration between local populations and the Defense and Security Forces remains an essential lever for thwarting the maneuvers of terrorist groups and preserving  the sovereignty, peace, and  the stability of Burkina Faso.
