Burkina Faso: Patriotic Support Fund – the people of Burkina Faso have already raised 162 billion CFA francs
At the halfway point of 2026, the performance of the Patriotic Support Fund offers tangible evidence of popular commitment in Burkina Faso: 162 billion CFA francs mobilized by June 28, against an annual forecast of 200 billion. That is over 80% of the target reached before the end of the first semester.
Since its creation in 2023, the FSP has become far more than a financial collection mechanism.
It embodies the junction between the political vision of the transitional authorities and the determination of a people who have chosen not to wait for others to solve their problems on their behalf.
Year after year, contributions flow in, testifying to a popular trust that neither economic difficulties nor the sacrifices imposed by the security crisis have eroded.
Behind these figures lie gestures of all sizes: the civil servant setting aside part of his salary, the trader drawing from his profits, the farmer giving what he can. So many individual contributions that, added together, build a collective response to a collective threat.
For this is the very philosophy of the Popular Progressive Revolution championed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré: to make the people not the passive spectators of a war waged in their name, but the conscious actors and stakeholders in their own regained sovereignty.
At this pace, the annual target of 200 billion will likely be reached well before December 31. A strong signal sent to those who doubted Burkina Faso’s capacity to finance its future through its own means.
