Football Royalty reigns: Lionel Messi clinches third FIFA best men’s Player Award in 2023

London, England – In the heart of London, the prestigious FIFA awards ceremony, «The Best FIFA 2023», unfolded with eager anticipation. The climax of the evening was the announcement of the Best Men’s Player of the Year, a title secured for the third time by the Argentine maestro, Lionel Andres Messi.

Amidst the star-studded finalists, including Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland and former PSG teammate Kylian Mbappé, Messi once again emerged triumphant.

The Argentine World Cup champion outshone the talents of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain players, who secured the second and third spots, respectively.

Notably absent from the ceremony, Messi’s non-appearance had initially tilted the scales in favor of Erling Haaland.

Choosing to remain in Miami for intensive training with his team, Inter Miami, Messi continued his preparation ahead of the upcoming match scheduled for Friday against El Salvador.

This individual accolade marks Messi’s third, adding to his victories in 2019 and 2022.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner also secured a spot in the prestigious FIFA Best Men’s World XI.

In a remarkable feat, Messi solidified his status as the only player in history to be part of the Best World XI for an astounding 17 consecutive years.
