Guardiola Stands by Xavi amidst Barcelona’s Supercup Humiliation

In the aftermath of FC Barcelona’s humiliating 4-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup final, coach Xavi Hernandez has found himself under intense criticism. However, on Monday, Xavi received a vote of confidence from his counterpart at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola.

«I’m giving my support to Xavi», expressed Guardiola. «It is easy to blame the coach, but the players must step up! There is no secret; they are the ones on the field. It’s not solely the coach’s fault; we know this position only lasts for 5 years. The players need to take responsibility», declared the 2023 Coach of the Year.

Barcelona faced a resounding defeat in the Supercup final, with Real Madrid dominating the struggling Blaugrana, who seemed devoid of solutions against the efficient Madrid side.

Xavi Hernandez, at the helm of the team, has yet to find a winning formula, as reflected in the disappointing statistics.

In the wake of this string of underwhelming performances, some fans are calling for the coach’s dismissal.

Despite the mounting pressure, one of Barcelona’s most celebrated coaches in history, Pep Guardiola, stands firmly in support of Xavi Hernandez, emphasizing the crucial role of the players in the team’s performance.
