Africa: Abortive coup in Burkina Faso, national mobilisation to preserve stability and progress

In Burkina Faso, national security forces successfully thwarted an attempted coup d’état. A diverse coalition, including active and dismissed military personnel, civilians, and activists, had devised plans to destabilize the country’s institutions, jeopardizing the crucial process of national rebuilding for Burkina Faso’s future.

Conspirators mobilized individuals in various military barracks, enjoying support from certain civil society organizations.

Foreign funds were funneled to support this endeavor. Intelligence services, alerted to the situation, acted proactively to dismantle this destabilization network.

Arrests have been made among both military and civilian figures, with ongoing investigations to determine the extent of their involvement.

The Burkinabe government is committed to following legal procedures to shed light on these events, informing both the national and international communities.

Currently, the solidarity and unity of the population are of paramount importance. In these times of complex challenges, citizens are warmly encouraged to rally behind the government to strengthen Burkina Faso’s stability and progress.

The government remains steadfast in its unwavering efforts to address national needs and confront security challenges.

It is now the responsibility of the Burkinabe people to realize their collective duty in preserving peace, security, and development.
