Burkina Faso: Meeting between the Prime Minister and the new college of the Higher Council for Communication

The recently appointed College of the Higher Council of Communication (CSC) had the honor of meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla in Ouagadougou on Friday, March 1, 2024, led by their President, Idrissa Ouédraogo.

Following the audience, President Idrissa Ouédraogo expressed their sense of duty in presenting the new team to the Prime Minister and conveying their gratitude, underscoring that each member received their appointment through the Council of Ministers of the Prime Minister.

During the productive meeting, the newly constituted CSC had the opportunity to articulate its vision for fostering the harmonious development of public communication in the country.

President Ouédraogo elaborated on the discussions, emphasizing the crucial need for visions that align with the modernization and activation of the CSC’s role as a mediator.

He further delineated that the CSC’s mandates extend beyond mere regulation to encompass vital functions like capacity building, mediation, and safeguarding the communication market.

Acknowledging the paramount mission of the Transition to reclaim the national territory from the looming terrorist threat, Prime Minister Kyélem de Tambèla stressed the importance of contextualizing press freedom.

He underscored the CSC’s pivotal role in education and information dissemination, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of individual roles and actively contributing to the fight against underdevelopment.

The exchange between the CSC and the Prime Minister highlighted a collaborative approach towards advancing both communication standards and national development in Burkina Faso.
