Burkina Faso: The Prime Minister welcomes the success of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation

The recent National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (NDPECP), held from March 26 to April 9, 2024 under President Ibrahim Traore’s leadership, were hailed as a significant success, according to Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambela.

The primary aim of this initiative was to raise awareness among the populace on crucial themes such as sanitation, reforestation, discipline, and support for the armed forces.

After two weeks of citizen-led actions, the Prime Minister expressed deep satisfaction with the outcomes, noting that the set objectives had been met.

Throughout this period dedicated to patriotic engagement, Burkinabe citizens wholeheartedly participated, showcasing their commitment through various activities and expressions.

Displays of national flags, traditional attire, and the consumption of local delicacies were all emblematic of their profound attachment to their nation.

Beyond official events, numerous citizens, whether individually or in groups, also engaged in concrete acts of citizenship.

Instances of solidarity and generosity bloomed across the country, underscoring the population’s steadfast dedication to the welfare of the community.

However, amidst the celebrations of civic pride, certain instances of misconduct surfaced, highlighting the ongoing need to combat unethical and immoral behaviour.

Cases of dishonesty were brought to light, serving as reminders that a minority’s actions can potentially undermine society’s core values.

In response to these challenges, the Transitional government is committed to promoting ethical conduct and uplifting positive role models within society.

Initiatives like the national coordinator’s field visits for presidential initiatives aim to spotlight commendable actions and inspire civic responsibility among citizens.

The National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation stand as a testament to the Burkinabe people’s unwavering dedication to advancing the common good.

Nonetheless, sustaining this momentum will require ongoing efforts to foster awareness and uphold civic and moral values throughout society.
