Bayer Leverkusen makes history with first Bundesliga title victory

Bayer Leverkusen made history by securing their maiden Bundesliga title with a commanding 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen on the 29th matchday of the season. The match saw Leverkusen dominate from start to finish, with Victor Boniface opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 25th minute.

Returning from injury, the Nigerian striker showcased his talent to give Leverkusen the lead heading into halftime.

After the break, Leverkusen intensified their assault, with Granit Xhaka (60′) and Florian Wirtz (68′) adding two more goals to their tally.

Despite efforts from Werder Bremen, they were unable to find a response, and Leverkusen continued their onslaught.

Wirtz, one of the standout performers of the season, completed his hat-trick with goals in the 83rd and 90th minutes, sealing Leverkusen’s emphatic victory.

This triumph extends Leverkusen’s unbeaten streak to an impressive 43 matches across all competitions, with 38 wins and 5 draws.

They now sit comfortably atop the Bundesliga table with 79 points, maintaining a 13-point lead over second-placed Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Werder Bremen remains in 12th place with 31 points.

With the Bundesliga title secured, Leverkusen sets their sights on further success in the German Cup and the Europa League, aiming to add more silverware to their historic season.
