Crystal Palace stuns Manchester United 4-0 in Premier League showdown

Crystal Palace hosted Manchester United in a pivotal Premier League clash, marked by referee Jarred Gillett sporting a camera—a Premier League first. The Eagles soared to a remarkable victory, overwhelming the Red Devils at Selhurst Park.

Prior to this match, Manchester United had enjoyed a four-game unbeaten run in the league (comprising three draws and one win).

However, they faltered against Crystal Palace on Monday night, succumbing to a comprehensive defeat.

The scoring opened with a sensational solo effort from Michael Olise, who danced past Casemiro before slotting home a left-footed strike, giving Palace an early 1-0 lead.

Shortly before halftime, Jean-Philippe Mateta doubled Palace’s advantage, burying a clinical finish to make it 2-0.

In the second half, despite United’s efforts, they struggled to create meaningful chances as Palace maintained control.

Trick Mitchell capitalized on defensive chaos, netting Palace’s third goal from close range after Dalot’s clearance fell kindly to him.

Olise then capped off a stellar performance with a second goal, completing his brace and sealing a resounding 4-0 triumph for Crystal Palace.

Manchester United’s European aspirations now hang in the balance as they slip behind Chelsea and Newcastle in the league standings.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s emphatic win secures their Premier League status and lifts them to 14th place in the table.
