Kenyan President William Ruto welcomed by President Joe Biden at the White House: A New Era of Technological Partnership

Kenyan President William Ruto was welcomed by his American counterpart, Joe Biden, at the White House in Washington for a three-day state visit. The visit began with a meeting involving technology sector leaders and business executives. Joe Biden emphasized the longstanding diplomatic relationship between the United States and Kenya.

“As we celebrate 60 years of ties between our two countries, it is clear that our peoples are the true strength of this partnership.

And a partnership that works well. Nowhere is this more important than in the field of innovation.

That is why we have so many companies around this table, from Silicon Valley to Silicon Savannah.

Our collaborators have propelled us forward and pioneered new technologies that transform millions of lives,” said Joe Biden, President of the United States.

President Biden announced what he called a new era of partnership between the two countries, confirming a mutual desire to undertake technological development projects with a focus on innovation.

«We are launching a new era of technological cooperation between Kenya and America, including new exchanges and investments in key areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. And these advancements are largely due to the leaders present around this table», added the American president.

At the end of this state visit, the United States is expected to designate Kenya as a major non-NATO ally. Kenya would be the first sub-Saharan African country to receive this designation, symbolizing Washington’s commitment to deepening its strategic relations with the country.

«Our young population, talented, educated, innovative, and cutting-edge American technology, along with investment capital and investors eager for opportunities, not only in Kenya but also across our continent, are perfectly suited to this moment. I believe we are experiencing a historic moment to explore investment opportunities between Kenya and the United States», said William Ruto, President of Kenya.

This visit comes as the United States prepares to deploy forces to Haiti as part of the UN’s efforts to address the security crisis in the Caribbean nation.
