Burkina Faso: Adoption of a funding for integrated communication system for internal security forces

Burkina Faso is continuing to take significant steps to enhance its internal security. During the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, presided over by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, a critical report was adopted regarding the funding of the “Integrated Communication System for Internal Security Forces” (SCIFSI) project.

The SCIFSI project aims to modernize and strengthen radio communication among internal security forces.

By integrating an advanced communication system, various security entities will be able to collaborate more effectively on a single platform while managing their internal communications autonomously.

This technological advancement will enable better coordination in the field, thereby optimizing security operations.

The SCIFSI project, planned for a five-year duration, represents a significant investment for Burkina Faso.

The total cost is estimated at 31,533,807,001 CFA francs. This funding will be partially covered by a loan from the West African Development Bank (BOAD) amounting to 19,551,708,406 CFA francs, while the national counterpart will contribute 11,982,098,595 CFA francs.

The Council of Ministers has issued clear instructions for the relevant ministers to take the necessary steps to submit the funding request to BOAD.

This crucial step will secure the necessary funds for the SCIFSI project, ensuring that Burkina Faso’s internal security forces have the appropriate tools to effectively carry out their mission.

This project marks a major advancement for Burkina Faso in the realm of internal security.

By equipping the security forces with a high-performance and integrated communication tool, the country is preparing itself to respond more effectively to current and future security challenges.

The Burkinabe government is demonstrating its commitment to modernizing its security forces by investing in advanced technologies to enhance the safety and protection of its citizens.
