Tunisia edges Equatorial Guinea 1-0 to Top Group H in World Cup 2026 Qualifiers
On Wednesday, June 5, in Rades, Tunisia secured a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea in the third round of World Cup 2026 qualifiers. The match saw the Eagles of Carthage claim the three points in the final minutes thanks to a penalty converted by Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane.
The first half ended goalless, with few scoring opportunities for both teams. The match was disrupted by an injury to Aissa Laidouni, who was replaced by Nader Ghandri in the 32nd minute.
Despite the slow pace, Tunisia managed to break the deadlock with a late penalty.
This win marks Tunisia’s third consecutive victory, placing them at the top of Group H.
Meanwhile, Equatorial Guinea, initially a strong contender with two wins, had their six points revoked by FIFA due to the ineligibility of star striker Emilio Nsue. This development has made Group H more competitive than ever.
