Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: Incessant smears, a strategy to slow down the fight against terrorism

The ongoing barrage of unfounded allegations against Burkina Faso’s defense and security forces, including their invaluable allies, the VDP, represents a calculated strategy by international entities such as HRW, the UN, and their cohorts.

Their objective? To obstruct Burkina Faso’s unwavering pursuit of freedom, security, and national sovereignty, by sowing seeds of doubt and discord among its people.

Curiously timed, these accusations surged shortly after critical national consultations that extended the country’s transition period.

They followed President Ibrahim Traoré’s impassioned plea to his fellow citizens, urging heightened dedication to liberate their homeland from oppressive forces.

Yet again, on May 31, the UN echoed baseless claims against these courageous fighters, highlighting a clear agenda to undermine Burkina Faso’s progress.

The steadfast determination and resilience exhibited by Burkina Faso’s leadership and populace pose a direct challenge to imperialist agendas and their vested interests.

The country’s resolute stance has significantly thwarted terrorist activities, reclaiming swathes of national territory inch by inch.

This relentless campaign to vilify Burkina Faso’s defenders serves only to sow division between its civilian and military sectors.

It’s an intolerable affront, particularly for those actively engaged in safeguarding the nation’s interests within citizen vigilance organizations.

In response to these unjust attacks, these vigilant groups are rallying for a massive show of unity on June 7 at 8 am GMT, converging at the UN Human Rights Commission office in Ouagadougou.

Their message is clear: a resolute rejection of disparaging and defamatory tactics employed by certain international quarters.

This mobilization not only underscores Burkina Faso’s unwavering commitment to freedom and sovereignty but also serves as a poignant reminder to the world of the Burkinabe people’s astute awareness and determination in the face of external pressures.
