DRC / President Félix Tshisekedi: A pillar of diplomacy for peace in Chad

Amid a critical phase of political transition in Chad, President Félix Tshisekedi played a pivotal role as a mediator for peace and stability in the region. Last Monday, he held discussions with the Minister of Regional Cooperation, Didier Mazenga, who served as a special envoy to Chad.

Minister Mazenga presented a progress report on the transition process that culminated in President Idriss Deby Itno’s electoral victory.

This meeting provided an opportunity to outline future steps, including preparations for President Deby’s arrival in N’djamena and hosting a Chadian delegation in Kinshasa, led by the president of Chad’s national electoral agency.

According to Minister Didier Mazenga, President Tshisekedi is regarded as a dignified figure and a symbol, leading to the decision to name a street after him in N’djamena.

Appointed as Facilitator of the transition process in Chad by the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) in October 2022, President Tshisekedi has been actively engaged in fostering dialogue and promoting political stability in Chad.

His unwavering commitment and diplomatic efforts have been instrumental in supporting a peaceful transition to a new democratic era in Chad.

This recognition underscores President Tshisekedi’s significant regional leadership and unwavering dedication to peace and prosperity in the Central African region.

During this pivotal phase for Chad, President Tshisekedi’s continued involvement demonstrates the Democratic Republic of Congo’s steadfast commitment to regional stability and security.
