The government celebrates the recapture of Kidal with matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers

The recapture of Kidal is a real victory for the Malian armed forces and the Malian government. The Malian authorities intend to celebrate the army’s victory in Kidal with two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

To this end, the Ministry of Sport has announced that ticket prices for Mali’s match against Chad on Friday 17 November and the match against the Central African Republic on Monday 20 November will be reduced from 2,000 FCFA to 1,000 FCFA.

The idea is to «allow the Malian sporting public to celebrate the heroic victory of the FAMa (Malian Armed Forces) in communion with the Eagles», explained the Minister.

It should be remembered that the Malian army had been driven out of this region of Mali occupied by Tuareg rebels since 2014.

Its recapture by the army is a feat achieved by the military (Colonel Assimi Goïta and his men) in power since 2020. And it deserves to be celebrated.

Patriotic demonstrations are taking place all over the country.
