Iranian Presidential Election Held Following tragic death of former President Ebrahim Raissi

Following the tragic death of former Iranian President Ebrahim Raissi in a helicopter crash over a month ago, a new presidential election has been organized.

Iranians residing in Burkina Faso participated in this civic duty on Friday, June 28.

A total of six candidates are vying for the presidential seat in Iran. According to the ambassador, the competition is intense, and it remains uncertain who will emerge as the new president.

This election will determine the individual who will manage the country’s affairs moving forward.

This election marks the 14th of its kind since the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in January 1979.

As stipulated by the Iranian Constitution, the responsibility for organizing elections falls to the Minister of the Interior, and this process has been duly carried out.

Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran share strong ties of friendship and multisectoral cooperation.

Key areas of collaboration include environmental protection and natural resource management, energy and mining, construction, social protection, the development of higher education, research and innovation, the pharmaceutical industry, and technical and professional training.
