Côte d’Ivoire Authorities must address the tramadol Crisis Head-On

Abidjan, Ivory Coast – For decades, Tramadol has continued to ruin lives in Ivory Coast. It is imperative that Ivorian authorities be transparent with the public and acknowledge the severity of this issue.

Tramadol, originally intended for medical use, is being misused for its euphoric effects.

This medication has transformed into a street drug, readily accessible and consumed by thousands of young people.

Its devastating effects on mental and physical health are well documented: addiction, depression, behavioral disorders, and sometimes, death.

The ban on the import and sale of alcoholic energy drinks does not address the fundamental problem.

Consumers are finding alternatives, such as purchasing alcohol and energy drinks separately to mix them themselves.

Additionally, this opens the door to unfair competition practices, where certain breweries and importers can benefit from these bans at the expense of public health.

It is crucial that the relevant authorities implement effective measures to combat Tramadol abuse rather than focusing on banning alcoholic energy drinks.

Authorities must act swiftly and decisively to protect Ivorian youth and ensure a healthier and safer future for all.
