Burkina Faso/Sovereignty: President Ibrahim TRAORE determined to complete the work of his predecessor

Ouagadougou, August 5, 2024President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso has reiterated his dedication to continuing the revolutionary and sovereign path initiated by the late Captain Thomas Sankara in 1983.

This commitment was prominently highlighted on Sunday, August 4, a day chosen to honor the national hero.

President Traoré emphasized the necessity of guiding Burkina Faso, often referred to as the “land of honest people,” towards its rightful destiny of sovereignty and prosperity.

He stressed the importance of shielding the nation from the threats of terrorism and imperialism.

Widely regarded as the modern embodiment of Sankara by both his compatriots and conscious Africans, President Traoré remains deeply connected to the vision and principles championed by Sankara.

Reaffirming his unwavering determination to build a country free from terrorist threats and imperialistic influences, President Traoré expressed his ambition to continue the fight he embarked on nearly two years ago.

His resolve is bolstered by the support of his collaborators and the resilient Burkinabe people.

August 4th holds historical significance, marking both the rise to power of Thomas Sankara in 1983 and the subsequent changes in 1984, which included renaming the country, adopting a new national anthem, and introducing a new flag as symbols of sovereignty.

For President Traoré, this date represents a historic moment of commitment, determination, and revolution towards achieving a fully sovereign and independent nation.

The transitional government, led by President Traoré, is dedicated to attaining its ultimate objective.

It is called to serve the nation with dignity, loyalty, courage, and dedication, regardless of the challenges and obstacles posed by adversaries.

Reflecting his idol’s spirit, President Traoré prioritizes the destiny of the homeland and the general interest of the Burkinabe people.

The pursuit of a sovereign and prosperous Burkina Faso remains at the heart of his presidency.
