Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré meets Burkinabe and African youth representatives on Friday

Since ascending to the presidency, Captain Ibrahim Traoré has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the youth of Burkina Faso, recognizing their critical role as the driving force behind the nation’s renewal and sustainable development.

As he presides over the International Youth Day (IYD) celebration in Ouagadougou on Friday, August 9, President Traoré reaffirms his belief that young people must be at the forefront of Africa’s key challenges—integration, security, peace, and development.

Under his leadership, a series of initiatives have been launched to address the aspirations of the youth, particularly in the areas of education, employment, and civic engagement.

Understanding that education is a fundamental tool for youth empowerment, President Traoré has spearheaded reforms aimed at improving access to quality education while fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

Vocational training programs have been strengthened to better align with the labor market’s needs, equipping young people to become pivotal players in the national economy.

In tandem, the President has implemented practical measures to improve young people’s access to financing, notably through the establishment of dedicated youth entrepreneurship support funds.

These efforts are designed to provide Burkinabe youth with the resources to create their own opportunities, achieve economic independence, and contribute to the nation’s wealth creation.

On the civic engagement front, Traoré has actively promoted the involvement of young people in decision-making processes at all levels of governance.

In a country facing significant security challenges, he views the youth not only as a vital force but also as agents of change who can help address the nation’s most pressing issues. Traoré’s approach positions the youth as central to the peacebuilding and security consolidation efforts in Burkina Faso.

Through his speeches and actions, Captain Traoré consistently urges Burkinabe and African youth to recognize their potential and responsibility in building a free, dignified, and prosperous Africa.

During the IYD, he will deliver a solemn address to the youth of Africa and the world, sharing his vision of an Africa free from violence and poverty, where the well-being of its people is paramount.

President Traoré embodies a forward-looking leadership model that places youth at the heart of Burkina Faso’s socio-economic transformation.

His initiatives in support of the younger generation reflect his determination to build a resilient, self-reliant, and peaceful Burkina Faso—one with a thriving youth ready to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.
