Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck to divorce after two years of marriage

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are ending their marriage after just two years, with Lopez filing for divorce on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The couple, known as “Bennifer,” had a whirlwind romance, rekindling their relationship nearly two decades after their initial breakup in 2004. They married in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a larger celebration in Georgia.

Lopez and Affleck first met on the set of the 2003 film Gigli and had planned to marry in 2004, but the relationship ended before the wedding.

Their recent reunion was marked by Lopez’s reflection on their enduring love, describing it as “twenty years patient” in 2022.

In the court documents, Lopez or her attorney must serve Affleck with a copy of the divorce petition.

Lopez has not mentioned any prenuptial agreement in her filing. Both parties are required to disclose their financial details, including income, expenses, properties, and debts, with Lopez given 60 days to file her financial disclosure and Affleck another 60 days to respond. Failure to comply with these requirements could lead to court sanctions.

Speculation about their relationship had been rife, including reports of them listing their Beverly Hills mansion for $65 million and being seen separately without their wedding rings.

Affleck, a two-time Oscar winner, was previously married to Jennifer Garner, and they have three children.

Lopez has had multiple marriages, including to Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins, and was once engaged to Alex Rodriguez.
