Burkina Faso: The persecution of President Ibrahim TRAORE demonstrates his patriotism and good vision (THIERNO B. SOW)

Senegalese pan-Africanist Thierno B. Sow recently shared his thoughts on the challenges faced by Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. According to Sow, standing up to imperialists is not for the faint-hearted; it requires clear vision, true patriotism, and unwavering determination.

He emphasized that anyone who opposes imperialist principles must be prepared to endure all forms of pressure and persecution.

Sow believes that this is precisely the situation President Traoré has been facing since coming to power.

Traoré is deeply committed to ensuring the security, freedom, and sovereignty of Burkina Faso, free from the influence of imperialists and their local collaborators.

As a result of his patriotic stance, his opponents have been relentlessly trying to destabilize his administration, devising new strategies daily to undermine a regime that enjoys widespread popular support.

In Sow’s view, French media are playing a pivotal role in this destabilization effort, acting as propaganda tools for Western imperialists and their African allies.

He accuses these media outlets of spreading lies, manipulating public opinion, and leading a smear campaign against Ibrahim Traoré. Sow identifies several reasons for this media onslaught.

Firstly, Sow argues that Burkina Faso is at a critical juncture in its fight against terrorism, with a strengthened military under Traoré’s leadership.

French media, according to him, aim to discredit the president’s efforts in order to demoralize the Burkinabe armed forces—both the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP)—who are fully committed to the battle.

Additionally, Sow accuses these media outlets of serving the interests of “traitors” who, for personal and imperialist gains, are willing to sacrifice their fellow citizens and the integrity of their country.

He also claims that French media indirectly support the criminal groups operating in rural areas, labeling these groups as mercenaries for the imperialists and amplifying their criminal actions against the Burkinabe people.

In light of this situation, Thierno B. Sow urges the people of Burkina Faso to remain mobilized, determined, and resilient.

He believes that these qualities are Burkina Faso’s most powerful weapons in its struggle against its historical enemies and predators.

He calls on both civilians and the military to resist discouragement, emphasizing that the future of the country and the survival of future generations depend on their collective resilience.
