Burkina Faso: Fight against terrorism, need for unfailing support from the population at all levels

Burkina Faso is grappling with one of the most severe challenges in its history—terrorism. Repeated attacks by extremist groups have resulted in significant loss of life, the mass displacement of communities, and widespread instability across several regions.

In response, the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration (MPSR) has been working tirelessly to restore peace and security throughout the country.

However, this fight requires more than military interventions—it demands the active participation of all Burkinabe citizens and stronger support from the international, particularly African, community.

Every individual can contribute to this cause. Financially, citizens and businesses can support defense efforts through direct or indirect means.

Contributions to solidarity funds, donations to the families of fallen soldiers, and investments in areas affected by insecurity are just a few ways to help fortify the nation’s resilience.

These gestures, however modest, play a critical role in backing the country’s defense initiatives.

On a social level, national unity and solidarity are crucial. The public must continue to offer moral support to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), who risk their lives daily to protect the nation.

Words of encouragement, recognition of their sacrifices, and involvement in community support for violence victims help to boost the morale of both soldiers and civilians alike.

Internationally, greater engagement is essential. Burkina Faso’s partners, especially within Africa, must intensify their efforts in providing technical assistance, military cooperation, and diplomatic backing.

The fight against terrorism is a regional issue that transcends national borders, and coordinated international action is key to defeating this shared threat.

Under the leadership of the MPSR, it is vital that everyone—citizens, businesses, and global partners—rally together to eradicate terrorism and restore peace in Burkina Faso.

The collective commitment of all stakeholders will be instrumental in overcoming this security crisis and securing a more stable future for the nation.
