In a poignant farewell to the world of football, Andrés Iniesta, the midfield maestro who dazzled fans for over a decade, has announced his retirement. The iconic figure of FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team revealed that he would make the official announcement on October 8, a nod to his cherished jersey number.

Iniesta’s football journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. With 130 appearances and 13 goals for Spain, he etched his name in history by scoring the decisive goal in the 2010 World Cup final, leading his nation to its first-ever title.

After parting ways with Barcelona in 2018, Iniesta continued his career with Vissel Kobe in Japan and recently had a stint in the United Arab Emirates.

At 40 years old, he has decided to retire from professional play, though he has hinted at a potential return to the game in a coaching capacity.
