Football/ Messi matches Ronaldo’s record with hat-trick as Argentina thrash Bolivia

Lionel Messi scored his 10th international hat-trick, matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s record, as Argentina demolished Bolivia 6-0 in a World Cup qualifier at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.

The 37-year-old Inter Miami star also assisted two goals, helping Argentina secure their spot at the top of the South American qualifying group despite recent setbacks against Colombia and Venezuela.

Reflecting on the match, Messi expressed his gratitude for the support he receives from fans. “It’s always a special feeling to come here and hear them chant my name. I feel like a kid again when I’m with this team,” Messi said.

Messi opened the scoring after 19 minutes, capitalizing on a defensive error. He later assisted Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez before Thiago Almada added a fourth.

Messi sealed the rout with two late goals, taking his tally to 112 goals in 189 international matches, second only to Ronaldo’s 133.

Meanwhile, Brazil ended their struggles with a 4-0 victory over Peru. Raphinha scored twice from penalties, while Andreas Pereira and Luiz Henrique added late goals.

The win moved Brazil to fourth place in the table, six points behind leaders Argentina.

Elsewhere, Jhon Duran continued his fine form, netting in Colombia’s 4-0 win over Chile. Davinson Sanchez, Luis Diaz, and Luis Sinisterra also scored, as Colombia climbed to second in the group standings.
