Burkina Faso: H.E. Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo mobilises religious denominations for unity and peace

On Monday, December 16, 2024, Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, visited several religious institutions in Ouagadougou as part of a diplomatic outreach.

His visits included meetings with the Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions (FEME), the Archdiocese of Ouagadougou, and the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina (FAIB).

These interactions were aimed at strengthening the collaboration between the government and religious communities across the country.

Religious leaders warmly received the initiative, expressing their readiness to support the government’s efforts. They commended the Prime Minister’s approach and emphasized their commitment to fostering social cohesion and national unity.

During the visits, the Prime Minister called on religious groups to play an active role in supporting the nation’s defense forces engaged in reclaiming territories affected by insecurity.

He highlighted the important role religious institutions have in promoting peace and coexistence, essential for laying the foundation of a stable nation.

This move by the government reflects its determination to unite all sectors of society towards a common goal: building a stronger, more resilient Burkina Faso in the face of ongoing challenges.

Through this dialogue, the government seeks to harness the collective strength of both state and religious actors to ensure the country’s future stability and solidarity.
