Africa: The rise of the AES Armed Forces against terrorism

The fight against terrorism in the Sahel has entered a new phase with the growing strength of the armed forces within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). Member countries have intensified their efforts to enhance military capabilities and safeguard their populations.

As part of this initiative, the AES nations have embarked on an ambitious modernization drive, upgrading military equipment and expanding the training of their forces.

Each country has adopted tailored strategies to address the unique challenges posed by the Sahel’s geography and the evolving tactics of terrorist groups.

Regional cooperation has become a cornerstone of this strengthened security framework.

Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger have bolstered coordination efforts, sharing critical intelligence and conducting joint military training exercises.

This collaborative approach has enabled more precise and effective military operations, yielding tangible results on the ground.

The military strategies of AES members focus on two key objectives: securing national territories and combating cross-border terrorist networks.

Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has adopted a proactive stance, launching large-scale operations to drive out hostile forces and restore stability in conflict zones.

By working together, the AES countries have positioned themselves as pivotal actors in securing the Sahel.

Their united front reflects a strong political commitment to defending sovereignty and ensuring peace in the face of a shared threat.

This evolving dynamic is not only crucial for regional stability but also underscores the determination of Sahelian states to take control of their own security.
