In response to the wave of solidarity sparked by the return of Burkinabe nationals from the Republic of Guinea, the government has decided to structure its support efforts. In a statement issued on 6 November 2026, the Ministry of Family and National Solidarity announced the creation of a coordination mechanism to channel contributions from individuals and organisations wishing to help.
According to the ministry, the move aims to better organise donations and ensure that aid reaches beneficiaries effectively.
Citizens, companies, associations, non-governmental organisations and any other body wishing to take part in the national effort are invited to contact the relevant services.
Contributions may take several forms. The government is particularly calling for transport support to facilitate travel and the logistical care of those concerned.
In-kind donations are also encouraged, including food, clothing, essential supplies and other goods useful for welcoming and reintegrating returning compatriots.
In addition to material support, the authorities are open to financial contributions. Cash donations will help strengthen social assistance, humanitarian support and field coordination.
However, the ministry stressed the need for an orderly, transparent mobilisation that complies with procedures set by public services.
The initiative forms part of a national solidarity effort in response to a sensitive situation requiring a collective response.
For the government, it is about both demonstrating the fraternity of the Burkinabe people towards their nationals and creating the conditions for dignified, structured support for returnees.
The Ministry of Family and National Solidarity said the practical arrangements for contributing will be communicated by its technical services. It urged the population to show patriotic commitment and generosity in order to effectively support these compatriots returning home.
