Athletic Bilbao Stuns FC Barcelona in Thrilling Copa del Rey Clash

In an intense Copa del Rey matchup on January 24, Athletic Bilbao faced FC Barcelona in a highly anticipated showdown. The regular time ended with a 2-2 draw, and in extra time, Bilbao secured a 4-2 victory over Barcelona.

The Basque team took an early lead within the first minute, with Gurkha Guruzeta finding the net amid a goalmouth scramble.

Barcelona responded uniquely as Pedri’s attempt was blocked, and Berchiche’s clearance rebounded off Lewandowski’s left foot, leveling the score. Shortly after, Lamin Yamal’s powerful shot gave Barcelona a 2-1 lead.

Early in the second half, Athletic Bilbao once again equalized, with Nico Williams providing a cross for Oihan Sancet to score.

In the first half of extra time, Inaki Williams restored Bilbao’s lead at the 105th minute.
