The government of Burkina Faso continues to benefit from the strategic partnership with Russia for its socio-economic development projects. Russia, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, remains dedicated to supporting Burkina Faso in its security efforts against terrorism and the reclaiming of its national territory.

This commitment was highlighted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during his meeting with Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

On his first official visit to Burkina Faso, Minister Lavrov reaffirmed on June 5, 2024, Russia’s pledge to assist Burkina Faso in achieving peace, stability, sovereignty, and prosperity.

In the agricultural sector, Lavrov announced that Russia would contribute to fertilizer production, which is a significant boost for Burkina Faso’s efforts to secure food security.

Additionally, Russia has committed to supporting the construction of a state-of-the-art laboratory for detecting infectious diseases, enhancing the country’s healthcare capabilities.

Security remains a top priority in the bilateral cooperation between Burkina Faso and Russia.

Lavrov confirmed Russia’s dedication to strengthening the capacity and equipment of Burkina Faso’s military forces to enhance their operational effectiveness.

He also announced an increase in the number of Russian instructors in Burkina Faso.

The relationship between Burkina Faso and Russia has flourished since Captain Ibrahim Traoré took office.
