Uncertain future for Joao Félix: Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in Negotiations

Joao Félix’s future remains uncertain as the end of June approaches. For the second consecutive summer transfer window, the Portuguese international’s situation is causing much speculation.

Joao Félix’s saga could see another chapter this summer. After joining FC Barcelona on the last day of the summer transfer window on a loan without a purchase option, Félix is set to return to Atlético Madrid.

Barcelona wishes to keep the Portuguese forward but must negotiate with Atlético.

Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid may seek a substantial fee for their most expensive signing, following two successive loan spells.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano shared Joao Félix’s thoughts on his future: “My future? I’m on loan, and it doesn’t depend on me. If it did, I’ve said it before, I love Barça. It’s always been my childhood club, and I want to stay. But it depends on many other things. We’ll see.”

Signing with Barça? “I had to give up many things to come here, but I have no regrets. I fulfilled a childhood dream. Being a substitute either means you’re not doing things right or you feel it’s unfair. If a training session goes badly, I go home angry. Imagine a match I don’t play or play less; the next day, I’m very angry. I fight against myself,” he added.

Barcelona wants to keep Joao Félix, whose performance has fluctuated this season.

Despite a strong start under Xavi, Félix’s form faded. However, with new coach Hansi Flick’s arrival, Félix’s future looks promising. The club aims to retain him.

We want the Joaos (Cancelo and Félix) to stay. We’re working on it. Hansi Flick counts on them and believes he can help them perform. He sees them as high-quality players. He wanted to sign Joao Félix at Bayern Munich,” said the club’s president.

Like Félix, his compatriot Joao Cancelo was also loaned to Barcelona from Manchester City.

Currently, the Portuguese forward is valued at 30 million euros.

The Catalan club may extend his loan to save money for another player purchase.
