Football/England: Lee Carsley forced to go without three Key players for UEFA Nations League matches

Lee Carsley’s interim role as England manager has hit a stumbling block as he prepares for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. The Three Lions will be without three of their key players—Cole Palmer, Ollie Watkins, and Phil Foden—who have been forced to withdraw from the squad.

After reporting to St. George’s Park on Tuesday, the trio underwent medical evaluations, which led to the decision that Palmer and Watkins needed to return to their respective clubs to continue rehabilitation for ongoing injuries.

Phil Foden has also been ruled out, though the specifics of his unavailability remain unclear.

These withdrawals are a significant setback for Carsley, who now faces the challenge of adjusting his squad ahead of England’s matches against Ireland on September 7 and Finland on September 10.

With key players sidelined, the Three Lions will need to rely on other talents within the squad to secure positive results during this international break.
