Burkina Faso/Agriculture: Authorities praised for their remarkable support and commitment to safety

As the 2024-2025 agricultural campaign progresses, stakeholders in Burkina Faso’s agricultural sector report positive developments and progress. During a recent visit to the Central-Western region by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Agriculture, Commander Ismaël Sombié, industry players expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing activities and achievements of the current campaign.

The Minister’s visit, following an earlier tour of aquaculture sites, included inspections of various agricultural sites.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to advancing the sector, with significant technical support and guidance from national authorities.

This agricultural campaign is notable for the enhanced support provided by the government.

Under the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive for 2023-2025, producers have received substantial aid, including agricultural inputs, seeds, and equipment.

This support is part of a broader strategy to boost agricultural yields, enhance food sovereignty, and create wealth.

The initiative, spearheaded by President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, also includes free land preparation for cultivation.

This year, several hectares have been utilized for growing rice, maize, potatoes, and wheat.

Stakeholders report that the activities are progressing well, with encouraging results at the campaign’s midpoint.

They attribute this success not only to the government’s support but also to the increasing security in the country, a testament to the determination of both the authorities and security forces.
