Burkina Faso / China: Time to strengthen economic cooperation

A Chinese delegation, led by Li Yubao, Special Advisor to the President of China, recently met with the President of Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou as part of a high-level Sino-Burkinabe business forum. The gathering aimed to deepen economic ties between Burkina Faso and the People’s Republic of China, while signalling Burkina Faso’s aspirations for accelerated development.

Following his meeting with the President, Li Yubao expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcomes. “This Sino-Burkinabè business forum has been a success, as it was designed to showcase Burkina Faso’s progress on the path to development to the world,” he stated.

The forum established a strong foundation for enhanced cooperation in key economic sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and agriculture.

The initiative reflects the growing collaboration between the two nations, with a focus on driving investment and creating new business opportunities for both countries.

For Burkina Faso, this partnership with China is a crucial step toward modernization and attracting the foreign investment needed to implement large-scale projects.

This forum is part of Burkina Faso’s broader strategy to diversify its economic partnerships, seeking support from major players like China to promote sustainable and inclusive growth.

The strengthening of bilateral cooperation underscores the shared commitment of both nations to economic development and improving the livelihoods of their citizens.
