Burkina Faso: The return of Civic Education would be the manifestation of the patriotic will of President TRAORE

In September, the Ministry of Education announced the reintroduction of Civic Education as a core subject in all public schools, starting from the current academic year. This decision reflects President Ibrahim Traoré’s clear commitment to instilling patriotic and civic values in the youth, preparing them to be defenders of their homeland.

This initiative is part of the Presidential Initiative, which seeks deep reforms in Burkina Faso’s educational system and reflects the president’s desire to promote the nation’s indigenous values.

Many view the reintroduction of civic education into the curriculum as a way to instill discipline, patriotism, respect, and a sense of duty towards protecting national interests in students.

In alignment with this government directive inspired by President Traoré, cultural leaders from the Léraba province in the Cascades region organized a civic education session focusing on the life of former President Thomas Sankara.

This event, held on the anniversary of his assassination, aimed to encourage students to adopt the much-needed civic and patriotic behaviors the nation seeks.

President Ibrahim Traoré continues to push for the cultivation of patriotism and responsible citizenship, with a focus on mastering Burkina Faso’s resources and sociocultural identity.

His efforts remain unwavering in building a nation of responsible and patriotic citizens.
