DRC: Inga 3, a key project for the development of the Lobito corridor, according to President Félix Tshisekedi

During a recent roundtable in Angola, coinciding with the visit of outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Félix Tshisekedi underscored the pivotal role of the Inga 3 hydroelectric project in advancing the Lobito Corridor’s development. This initiative is seen as a cornerstone for fostering economic integration and driving regional growth.

President Tshisekedi emphasized that the Inga 3 project offers the DRC an unparalleled opportunity to convert its vast energy potential into a catalyst for sustainable development.

By harnessing the immense hydroelectric capacity of the Inga site, the project aims to generate thousands of megawatts of electricity, enabling the export of energy to neighboring countries while enhancing regional connectivity and international trade.

Inga 3 is particularly vital for the Lobito Corridor, a key logistical route linking the DRC with Angola, Zambia, and Tanzania.

This corridor facilitates the movement of raw materials and goods across borders, playing a critical role in the region’s economic dynamics.

Additionally, President Tshisekedi stressed that the hydroelectric project is indispensable for optimizing the corridor’s operations.

By providing a stable energy supply to transport infrastructure and supporting local industries, Inga 3 stands as a transformative force for regional development and economic resilience.
