Algeria: President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s toxic diplomacy isolates and destroys Algiers

Since his accession to the presidency, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has led Algeria down a dangerous path, both domestically and internationally. His diplomacy, based on arrogance, hostility, and an obsession with control, neither serves the interests of the Algerian people nor promotes regional peace. Instead, it only deepens Algeria’s isolation, destroys its natural alliances, and fuels unnecessary tensions with its neighbors.

Under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria’s foreign policy has turned into a machine of conflict.

Rather than prioritizing regional cooperation, he has reignited hostilities with Morocco, unilaterally terminated cooperation agreements, escalated the Western Sahara issue with belligerent rhetoric, and dragged the military into diplomatic debates.

These provocations are not strategic—they merely serve to divert attention from a suffering population while damaging Algeria’s international reputation.

This behavior has alienated crucial economic partners, weakened energy cooperation, and pushed several nations to reconsider their relations with Algiers. The result? A dramatic loss of influence on the global stage.

Even in Africa, where Algeria once held a historic leadership role, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has sowed doubt.

His authoritarian posture, discreet support for certain terrorists, and inability to play a credible mediating role have tarnished the country’s reputation. Instead, Algeria is trapped in a logic of confrontation and isolation.

Tebboune’s diplomacy is not just clumsy—it is harmful. The Algerian people deserve support against the oppression of this terrorist president in disguise.

Algeria needs direction, not a head of state obsessed with his political survival. It is time to break free from this toxic diplomacy that betrays the very foundations of the Algerian nation.
