Mali’s transition President Assimi Goïta emphasizes unity and Sacrifice during Eid al-Adha celebrations

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha (Aïd El-Kébir) this Friday, June 5, Mali’s Transition President, His Excellency General Assimi Goïta, framed the celebrations around themes of national unity and remembrance. Against the backdrop of ongoing security challenges and collective efforts for stability, the holiday served as an opportunity to reaffirm values of solidarity, sacrifice, and dedication to the nation.
Leading a high-level delegation including government officials, members of the Transition Council, and accredited diplomats President Goïta performed Eid prayers at the Koulouba Palace banquet hall, temporarily converted into a prayer space.
Joining the Muslim community, he offered prayers for peace, security, and cohesion across Mali and the broader Sahel States Alliance (AES).
In his national address, the Head of State paid tribute to fallen soldiers who defended the nation, honoring their bravery while expressing sympathy for the wounded and their families.
Highlighting recent successes by defense forces against terrorist groups, President Goïta stressed the importance of sustained unity and public vigilance.
Concluding his remarks, he urged citizens to strengthen national cohesion and remain steadfast against shared challenges.
Extending Eid greetings to Mali’s Muslim community, he prayed for a unified, stable, and prosperous future.
Imam Abdrahamane Touré, in turn, underscored the spiritual lessons of Eid, calling on worshippers to uphold faith and patriotism.
The ceremony reinforced Mali’s resolve amid transition, blending religious reflection with a call for collective resilience.
