Manchester City ready to cut ties with Jack Grealish this summer

Signed by Manchester City in August 2021 for a record €117.5 million, Jack Grealish is now facing an uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium. Once backed wholeheartedly by Pep Guardiola, the 29-year-old England international has seen his stock fall due to injuries, inconsistent performances, and off-field controversies. Left out of the final game of the season against Fulham, Grealish is also expected to be omitted from City’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer—a clear sign that his time in Manchester may be coming to an end.
Despite publicly defending him in the past, Guardiola recently admitted that Grealish needs regular playing time, whether at City or elsewhere. Under contract until 2027, the midfielder is now being encouraged to find a new club. Several teams are already showing interest, including his former side Aston Villa, as well as Newcastle, Everton, and Serie A’s Napoli—who are reportedly signing Kevin De Bruyne.
While City are open to letting him go, they are not looking to offload him at a bargain. Reports suggest an asking price of €48 million, and his current weekly wage of over €356,000 could be a stumbling block for potential suitors. A loan move is also being considered if a permanent transfer can’t be arranged early in the summer.
With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Grealish needs a fresh start to reignite his career and secure a place with the Three Lions. One thing is certain: the Grealish saga is just getting started.
