Burkina Faso: Highlights from the Official Launch of the First Faso Mêbo Holiday Camp

The Burkinabe capital came alive on Tuesday morning with the official launch of the very first edition of the Faso Mêbo Holiday Camp, an innovative program held under the patronage of Colonel Ismaël Kiswendsida DIAOUARI, Special Chief of Staff to the Presidency of Faso. It was he who gave the symbolic first whistle to kick off the activities at Lycée Marien N’Gouabi.

The ceremony brought together several high-ranking officials, including the Minister, Chief of Staff to the President of Faso, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin MEDAH, and the National Coordinator of the Presidential Initiative Faso Mêbo, Commander Ahmed Zoodnoma SAKANDÉ.

For this inaugural session, 410 young campers will benefit from a program that is both educational and civic-minded. Activities include learning how to make and lay paving stones, training in carpentry, visual and performing arts, as well as immersion in key themes such as civic responsibility, patriotism, environmental protection, respect for civic values, and prioritizing the national interest.

“These young people will learn to live with shared discipline, develop their work ethic, and forge strong bonds of friendship,” stressed Commander SAKANDÉ. The initiative aims to be not only a hands-on training platform but also a space for socialization and the transmission of values that shape responsible citizens.
