Burkina Faso: Community vigilance at the heart of the fight against illegal data collection

In a period marked by the Refoundation of the State and the consolidation of national sovereignty, every security challenge calls for a firm, clear-sighted, and collective response. The communiqué from the Ministry of Security regarding the growing presence of foreign street vendors involved in the alleged collection of personal data reminds us of an essential reality: the protection of the national territory is not limited to borders; it also begins in neighborhoods, villages, and family compounds.

The Ministry of Security has alerted the public to the presence of foreign street vendors offering various everyday consumer products in several localities of Burkina Faso.

Intelligence gathered indicates that these individuals are collecting GPS data of homes as well as information on the identity of their customers.

In the information age, personal data represents a strategic asset. Knowledge of  the homes of the citizens, lifestyles, and identities constitutes a major public security issue.

The protection of this information directly contributes to preserving national stability and defending the interests of the Burkinabe people.

The communiqué reminds us that the exercise of such activities by individuals of foreign nationalities from outside the community space is prohibited.

The rigorous application of the prohibition regulation illustrates the ability of the  State to enforce established rules on its territory.

Sovereignty is not proclaimed solely in speeches; it is exercised through concrete, assumed decisions applied in the supreme interest of the Nation.

The ongoing Refoundation rests on this requirement of responsibility, discipline, and respect for republican laws.

Every measure aimed at protecting populations helps strengthen the authority of the State and collective trust.

The appeal issued to the population is part of an endogenous approach to securing the territory. Citizen vigilance represents an essential link in the fight against all forms of threats.

Like a field that its owner watches over carefully to preserve his harvest, every citizen holds a share of responsibility in protecting the community.

Security thus becomes a collective work driven by commitment, patriotism, and a sense of duty.

By inviting populations to systematically report these activities to the toll-free numbers provided (10 10; 16; 17; and 199), the authorities strengthen cooperation between citizens and security services in a common surge of national defense.

Burkina Faso continues with determination along its path toward fully assumed sovereignty.

In this dynamic, popular vigilance constitutes a solid rampart against threats aimed at stability, peace, and national cohesion.

Every useful report, every act of responsibility, and every gesture of vigilance strengthens collective security.

The land of honest people is built on patriotic consciousness, unity, and the commitment of its daughters and sons.

The Refoundation advances thanks to a people standing tall, attached to their dignity and resolved to defend their interests.

Faced with security challenges, vigilance remains a powerful citizen weapon in the service of national sovereignty.
