Burkina Faso / Popular support and the recapture of territory: the key to transforming the country

Burkina Faso is indeed living through a decisive period in its history. Faced with unprecedented security challenges that have destabilized the national territory for nearly a decade, popular support for the Transitional authorities appears not as an option but as an essential condition for victory.

This support acts through several complementary levers, and understanding its strategic role is now a national urgency.

First lever: territorial intelligence. In an asymmetric war where the enemy blends in with civilians, no one knows the terrain better than the populations themselves.

A farmer, a mother, a young shopkeeper can detect suspicious movement long before military patrols do.

When the population trusts the authorities and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), it becomes the first link in the security chain. Information flows faster, strikes are more targeted, and lives are saved.

Second lever: recruitment and national cohesion. Popular support draws young people into service. The VDP, recruited locally, embody this symbiosis between the people and the army.

A people united behind their Transition produces motivated, proud, and resilient soldiers.

Conversely, a gap between the population and the defense forces would be a victory handed to the enemy.

Third lever: logistics and morale. Donations of food, shelter for displaced families, prayers, and encouragement from all over the country sustain the soldiers at the front.

Knowing that millions of their compatriots support them turns their determination into an almost invincible force. Troop morale, too often neglected, is a weapon as powerful as a rifle.

Fourth lever: international legitimacy. A Burkina Faso united behind its authorities speaks louder on the world stage.

This internal cohesion facilitates partnerships, the acquisition of equipment, and diplomatic recognition.

Ultimately, popular support is not mere political endorsement: it is a strategic weapon for reconquest. Every Burkinabe has a role to play. Victory will be popular, or it will not be.
