Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré sticks to his vision of self-sufficiency for the country

On March 20, 2025, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, officially inaugurated the Sino-Burkina Industrial Cement Company (CISINOB) in Laongo, located in the Ziniaré municipality. This state-of-the-art cement plant, a result of the strong partnership between Burkina Faso and China, is dedicated to the production and distribution of cement, marking a significant milestone in the country’s industrial development.

With a current workforce of 110 permanent employees and 300 seasonal workers, the facility boasts an impressive production capacity of 2,000 tons of cement per day, equivalent to 750,000 tons annually.

The construction of this expansive plant, spanning over 12.5 hectares, required an initial investment of nearly 27 billion CFA francs, with projections indicating a total investment of 75 billion CFA francs upon full implementation. The cement produced will be marketed under the brand name Cim Panga.

This new cement plant is a cornerstone of President Traoré’s vision to achieve self-sufficiency across all sectors, significantly reducing the nation’s reliance on imports.

By bolstering local production, the project aligns with the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the economy and create job opportunities for Burkinabe citizens.

The inauguration of CISINOB is part of a series of initiatives launched by Captain Traoré since the beginning of March, reflecting his unwavering commitment to accelerating the country’s development.

These efforts underscore his determination to drive forward the reforms he has championed, ensuring Burkina Faso remains on a path of rapid progress and sustainable growth.
