Burkina Faso / Creation of a higher military college: a major step forward for national defense

In a complex security context where challenges continue to mount, President Ibrahim Traoré remains firmly committed to peace and the sovereignty of Burkina Faso. The latest example of this commitment is the creation of a Higher Military Education College—a strategic project adopted by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

This new elite institution, which is part of a broader reform of the ministry’s organizational structure, is intended to be far more than just a training center. It symbolizes a strong will to break away from external dependence in the fields of strategic and operational military education.

Beyond training, the institution also aims to become a hub for regional military cooperation by welcoming officers from other African countries. This openness will help consolidate collective stability—an objective central to President Ibrahim Traoré’s pan-African vision.

The creation of this college is therefore much more than a mere administrative adjustment. It reflects a deeper logic: strengthening national resilience, sustainably professionalizing the armed forces, and building lasting peace through homegrown solutions. It stands as another pillar in the sovereign defense strategy that the Head of State has been shaping since taking office.

As the country continues its fight against insecurity and asymmetric threats, this decision represents a proactive and structured approach, grounded in a long-term vision where training, autonomy, and African cooperation play a key role. It is yet another sign that peace and security in Burkina Faso are not just slogans, but the result of constant effort, driven by strong political will and unwavering faith in the future.
