Togo: DRC-Rwanda crisis: Togolese mediation praised and supported by the OIF

In a tense regional context, marked by ongoing tensions between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, Togo has emerged as a voice of wisdom and unity under the leadership of the President of the Council, Faure Gnassingbé. Mandated by the African Union, Faure Gnassingbé has successfully mobilized key partners in the pursuit of lasting peace in eastern DRC.

Following the United Nations and Qatar, it is now the turn of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) to support Togo’s mediation efforts. Through a working visit, the OIF delegation came to strengthen the unifying role played by Togo in this initiative, while expressing its commitment to support the process by providing its expertise to the Togolese initiative.

True to its constructive and discreet diplomacy, Togo is working to bring positions closer together and restore trust between Kinshasa and Kigali through an inclusive mediation that respects the sovereignty of both parties.

This international recognition, starting with that of the OIF, further strengthens Togo’s legitimacy as a key player for peace on the African continent.

Through this delicate mission, Togo demonstrates that with diplomatic rigor and commitment, it is possible to actively contribute to the emergence of unity in Africa—a responsible leadership in the service of regional peace and collective security.
