Mali: The CTIA calls for Reconciliation and National Unity

The Confederation of Touareg Iwillimiden and Allies (CTIA), led by the honorable Bajan Ag Hamatou, issued a statement on November 4, 2023, calling for peace and reconciliation in Mali. They express their concerns regarding recent developments related to the withdrawal of the MINUSMA (United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali) and the resumption of hostilities. The CTIA commends the professionalism of the Malian Armed Forces and the Transition authorities in the coordinated withdrawal of the MINUSMA.

As a significant republican actor in the implementation of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, resulting from the Algerian peace process, the CTIA feels compelled to preserve peace.

They reaffirm their support for the Transition authorities and the unity of Mali.

Furthermore, the CTIA decides to support and join the inclusivity movements and calls on all member communities, allies, and combatants to join the peace process under the government’s leadership.

They emphasize their solidarity with republican movements committed to peace and call for an end to the suffering of the Malian people.

The CTIA reiterates its commitment to the sovereignty, integrity, and independence of Mali and calls on all Malians to unite in preserving their common heritage.

Finally, they urge the government and the signatory movements to quickly return to the table of the Follow-up Committee for the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, resulting from the Algerian peace process, for its completion.
