Burkina Faso – Mali / Military synergy: Joint air strike neutralises terrorists

The armed forces of Burkina Faso and Mali have demonstrated remarkable operational synergy, resulting in the neutralisation of a group of terrorists operating on the common borders of the two countries.

The Burkina Faso army also dismantled a terrorist training camp in the eastern region of Burkina Faso.

On Wednesday 20 December 2023, the Burkina Faso army was informed of a terrorist attack in progress in Dinangourou, near the border with Mali.

Burkina Faso’s air force reacted immediately, pursuing the terrorists who were trying to flee towards Burkina Faso to escape the Malian aircraft.

Near the village of Windeboki, a decisive confrontation took place, with the Burkinabè vectors hitting the criminals under a large tree, resulting in the death of several of them.

The survivors were forced to withdraw towards Mali, where the Malian air force was waiting for them.

In parallel with this operation, the Burkina Faso fighting forces succeeded in dismantling a terrorist training camp in Bilanga, in the eastern region.

Aerial vectors played a crucial role in discreetly observing the terrorists’ activities from the air.

At first light, the terrorist instructors and trainees were training unsuspectingly, unaware of the vigilant presence of the security forces.

When the terrorists tried to disperse at the sight of the aerial vectors, they struck effectively, resulting in their neutralisation.

The ground forces intervened quickly after the air strike, taking over to complete the mission.

The remaining terrorists were eliminated, and the training base was completely destroyed and burnt down.

The success of this joint operation between Burkina Faso and Mali underlines the crucial importance of regional collaboration in the fight against terrorism.

This victory reinforces the determination of the two countries to work together to ensure the security of the region and to counter the terrorist threats that persist along their common borders.
