Burkina Faso: ECOWAS accused of misrepresentation in security assessment
In a press release dated December 30, 2023, the ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) once again found itself at odds with the actual situation prevailing in Burkina Faso, both in terms of security and humanitarian aspects, by referring to a deterioration.
While Burkinabe combat forces secure undeniable victories in reclaiming national territory and the Defense and Security Forces, along with Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, relentlessly pursue terrorist groups on the run, the ECOWAS has seemingly closed its eyes and ears, obstinately refusing any contact with reality.
Fully submissive to the desires of imperialists, the ECOWAS once again positions itself as a lackey of Western powers, painting a negative picture of the noble work carried out by the Burkinabe Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in ensuring sovereignty and territorial reconquest.
How can one trust a commission that, during the 64th summit of Heads of State and Government, claimed to be ready to provide financial support to three countries currently facing terrorism, namely Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, if it is incapable of accurately assessing the facts as they unfold?
Today, in 2024, it is disappointing to see the ECOWAS stating the opposite of what the world witnesses through social media regarding the fight against terrorism in the Sahel.
Fortunately, Burkinabe authorities quickly responded to this incongruous statement from the ECOWAS, whose objective appears to be convincing those who still give it some credibility that the situation worsened after the departure of French armed forces.
Clearly on the brink of disintegration, instead of introspection, the ECOWAS, in its apparent demise, continues to make mistakes like a servant of the worst kind, never seen on earth.
