Andre Ayew holds new record for participation in AFCON 2023

Ghana international Andre Ayew is closing in on Rigobert Song’s record. By taking part in the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, the 8th of his career, the Ghanaian player will break the record of former Cameroon player Rigobert Song and current coach of the Indomitable Lions.

Andre Ayew is thus on course to break the record for the most matches played in the history of the continental competition, a record previously held by the Cameroonian.

In the process, the Ghanaian could also become the first player to score in seven (7) different CANs.

Ghana are also four (4)-time African champions after Egypt and Cameroon. For this CAN, Ghana is in Group B.
