Burkina Faso: Sankara’s legacy revived to tackle contemporary challenges

Burkina Faso, the land of Honest People and beating heart of the Sahel States Confederation (AES), has taken a decisive step toward self-determination. The closing of the international conference on the Democratic Popular Revolution (RDP) and the Progressive Popular Revolution (RPP), held in Ouagadougou under the presidency of Secondary Education Minister Moumouni Zoungrana, signals a historic refoundation.

The event united progressive forces around a vital imperative: reviving, anchoring, and transmitting the revolutionary spirit to Sahelian youth.

By linking the pioneering legacy of Captain Thomas Sankara with the current patriotic drive of President Ibrahim Traoré, the conference armed contemporary consciences against imperialism.

Key recommendations include strengthening political and ideological training for youth, creating durable structures to preserve achievements, and fostering active international solidarity.

Major emphasis was placed on job creation, as no revolution can flourish amid unemployment.

The campaign “My Brick for Sankara” collected over 36,000 bricks (more than 18 million CFA francs), proving that memory is built through citizen sweat, not foreign aid.

The conclusion of the conference is a vibrant call for vigilance, cohesion, and solidarity among struggling peoples.

Youth, the vanguard of this refoundation must now wield these ideological tools to build a sovereign Africa, master of its land and destiny.
